Our beloved music minister and dear brother Chip went to be with his Lord Jesus at 7pm tonight, May 1. He is now free from sin and rejoicing in God’s love–all because he is forgiven and the perfect righteousness of Christ is his by faith. He has gone now to a better country, a heavenly one (Hebrews 11:13-16). Although his outer body wasted away, God has prepared for him an eternal weight of glory and inheritance beyond all comparison (2 Corinthians 4:16-17). Chip fought the good fight, finished the race, kept the faith (2 Timothy 4:7). He did not fear death, knowing that the victory was already won through the cross and resurrection of Jesus. All praise to God!
That I am not my own, but belong body and soul, in life and in death, to my faithful Savior Jesus Christ. He has fully paid for all my sins with his precious blood, and has set me free from the tyranny of the devil. He also watches over me in such a way that not a hair can fall from my head without the will of my Father in heaven: in fact, all things must work together for my salvation.
Because I belong to him, Christ, by his Holy Spirit, assures me of eternal life and makes me wholeheartedly willing and ready from now on to live for him. (Heidelberg Catechism)
