There’s a reason Proverbs 3:5-6 is so often quoted to comfort Christians who are trying to discern the path that God has for their lives. The admonition and accompanying promise seem so simple: “Trust in the Lord with all you heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths.” Simple, yes. Easy, no.
The 2010 Clifton Men’s Retreat is meant to help the men of Clifton trust God’s direction for their lives, especially when the way seems hidden. We hope to encourage our men with a practical theology of God’s guidance and care.
Speakers are John Kimbell, Jeremy Pierre, and Tom Schreiner, with special Q/A with the elders. The cost of the retreat is $40 and includes lodging (bunk beds and showers that require your own linens and towels) and meals (breakfast and lunch on Sat).

PRE-RETREAT begins Thursday, Oct 28, and is open for any man who’d like to have an evening of fellowship with a smaller group of Clifton men. This group will meet at the church at 6:00p.m. Thursday evening and travel to the retreat center, stopping for dinner on the way. Friday morning and midday will consist of meals together as a group, but everything else is unstructured. The whole day is free for personal retreat time. The idea is to allow some extended, unscheduled, free time for men to study, pray, read, fellowship, relax, etc. The cost of the pre-retreat is an additional $20.
We will be retreating at Cedarmore Camp and Conference Center, a 50 minute drive from the church. Directions are on their website here. Feel free to arrange carpooling.
